BLOBEL Flood Protection Systems

BLOBEL Flood Protection Systems are designed to protect your private and commercial assets. By developing simple and effective Flood Barrier Systems, both permanent and mobile, we have set standards in the market. Our Flood Protections Systems are internationally approved.
Whether you require fast protection from flash flooding, or flood defence walls to protect from rising waters, or brand products convince though their effective design and ease of use. BLOBEL Flood Protection Systems can be universally applied for doors, gates, windows and fields. Our flood barriers are known for the high quality of material used and their robustness. We apply the same high safety and quality standards for our flood protection products as we do for our emergency containment systems. The sealing technology is highly chemical resistant and can safely be used with uneven floors and rendered walls. All our products are subject to continuous quality assurance measures in keeping with DIN ISO 9001.

EUROCRAFT - Water Rescue Equipment

Problems associated with extensive flooding in recent years have highlighted the need for lightweight and versatile water rescue equipment to be available at short notice, often in inaccessible or difficult situations.

In conjunction with various fire and rescue services Eurocraft has developed a number of products which address many of the likely scenarios.

Hypothermia baths

The most usual candidates for hypothermia are sailors and aircrew rescued from the sea, divers, cavers, mountaineers and old people in poorly heated houses in winter.
SPECIFICATION
 Inflated (outside)2.25 x 1.05 x 0.4m
 Inflated (inside)1.85 x 0.6 x 0.35m
 Deflated0.65m x 0.3m Dia.
 Weight (empty)14kgs
 Capacity400 litres
 MaterialHypalon, Neoprene coated Polyester
 Available coloursred/grey, black/orange, yellow/red

Rescue Path

Rescue Path is a portable, inflatable rescue platform for use over ice, mud, shallows or unstable ground, enabling endangered persons or casualties to be reached in considerably less time than by using traditional methods.

FEATURES
  • Inflates in 60 seconds from a standard BA cylinder
  • 5m or 10m long by 1.4m wide
  • Compact stowage size of 0.787m x 0.533m x 0.406m
  • Transportable by 2 persons at 42kgs (less cylinder and regulator valve)
The Rescue Path is able to support a person within 60 seconds; when fully inflated to a pressure of approximately 7psi (0.5 bar) an automatic relief valve prevents over inflation.

Flood raft

The Flood raft was developed by Eurocraft in response to the emergency services' need for a towable craft that could carry more people than the boats and rafts currently used.

It can carry 20 people and has a low access point at the rear, wide enough for a wheelchair which allows for easier rescue of the disabled, elderly and infirm.

The stowed raft is portable and inflation fittings for gas cylinders allow rapid inflation of the craft at the required location.

Samuel Jones: Weather Mate: Emergency weather info on the go

Weather Mate: Emergency weather info on the go

While setting out on a voyage, it is important to be fully equipped and informed of the correct route and weather conditions to ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Taking a leaf from the thought, designer Samuel Jones has designed an emergency weather radio called ‘Weather Mate’, which will automatically notify you of flood, high winds, storms, tornadoes and other extreme weather conditions. Presenting 6-LED flashlight and a full spectrum of NOAA weather frequencies, the weather radio also includes a LCD Screen, circuit board, radio receiver and a speaker. The battery powered weather radio can also be charged by winding the rear dynamo crank handle, ensuring that it never goes out of power. The Weather Mate comes with an easy-to-navigate interface that provides users with instant access to NOAA weather radio frequencies, volume control and control of the flashlight.

Rez-Q: Flood rescue kayak for extreme conditions

Rez-Q: Flood rescue kayak for extreme conditions

Though, it’s almost impossible to resist the furies of mighty nature, we can minimize the damages with quick and smart rescue operations. Keeping such rescue actions in mind, designer Jacob Ballard has popped up with an innovative flood rescue kayak that will assist rescuers in extreme conditions. Dubbed the Rez-Q, this simple yet ingenious water-craft can be thrown from a chopper into the sea, where it can be expanded using a release lever present at the rear of the boat. Made from elastic urethane materials, the kayak can create an additional 3-feet of space to accommodate an extra person. The materials are lightweight, but are extremely UV stable and have energy absorbing properties.

Mom’s fear inspires daughter to design a portable fire escape ladder

Isn’t it a great idea to have a fire escape ladder at home? But then, where are you going to store it and moreover, it won’t be that easy to run around the house with the heavy thing looking for the safe window. All we need is a portable, lightweight fire escape ladder and a Purdue University student named Nora Flood has come up with a very effective solution. She has designed Escape, a ladder that uses the window frame for support rather than hooking onto the windowsill. Her design earned first place and $2,400 at the 16th annual Student Design Competition, sponsored by the International Housewares Association. Escape is compact, easy to store and easy to use. The ingenious design of the Escape portable ladder solves many issues linked with traditional fire escape ladders. Since, window frames could be of different sizes, the Escape expands to fit the size of the frame.

NOAH: New Orleans Arcology Habitat

When it rains, it pours -- the past few months have seen a slew of floods around the world, and it's not even hurricane season yet. With increasingly unpredictable environmental conditions and the prevalence of flash floods and catastrophic storms, building safe and secure flood-proof structures is becoming even more vital. Not only do we have to worry about natural disasters like hurricanes and floods, but we will have to battle with rising sea levels, so designs for aqueous living should definitely be on the minds of architects world-wide. Read on for six innovative flood-proof designs that are able to weather the worst of the rising tides.

NOAH: New Orleans Arcology Habitat

Designed for New Orleans, NOAH is a pyramid-shaped mixed-use complex for 40,000 people that is meant to survive all sorts of severe weather, including a flood. Designed to float in the event of rising water levels, NOAH, also includes a host of other sustainable features, including renewable energy, organic gardens, transportation and waste and water recycling.

Ho-Hyeok Lee wall - Wall for flood

Living in areas earmarked by nature with seasonal floods is no cakewalk. But with The Wall for Flood Control concept, it can be! It requires no manual operation or power source. It uses the buoyant force of water to deploy. As water levels increase, the wall retracts up forming a barrier. Conversely when the water level drops, the wall too lowers into a platform for pedestrians.

‘Water Good idea’

A flood tolerant house design has been unveiled by Cre8 Architecture, utilising the ingenuity of nature’s water lilies to solve the problems of man.The elaborate concepts were launched as part of a competition run by insurers Norwich Union with support from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).Both organisations were concerned with increasingly watery projections for the future and a related encroachment upon flood plain land.
